Positron Annihilation Lifetime in situ Study of Deformed Polyolefin Elastomers
نویسندگان
چکیده
The positron annihilation lifetime spectroscopy was used to investigate the free volume hole size of ethylene octane copolymers as a function of deformation in the range from 0 to 110% in steps of 10%. For each degree of deformation a series of 5–6 positron annihilation lifetime spectra was collected in situ. All spectra of a given series were analysed simultaneously. They were resolved into three exponential components, of lifetimes parameters τi and intensities Ii. The variations of τ3 reflect three deformation regions, the elastic range, strain softening range, and plastic region.

In this study, a positron annihilation lifetime spectrometer was set up and its resolution was optimized. The spectrometer is a fast-slow arrangement with time resolution of 250 ps. To obtain lifetime components and their intensities from analyzing positron annihilation lifetime spectrum, the Pascual software is used. Positrons are from a source of radioactive 22NaCl with 20 μCi activity enclos...

The stability of the system was tested with a source. The time resolution of the whole system has been derived about 365 ps at FWHM. Then n- and p-type silicon samples we...
متن کاملMeasurements of positron lifetime and hydrogen solubility were made in deformed polycrystalline Pd to investigate thermally-activated recovery. A strong correlation as a function of isochronal annealing temperature was observed between trapped-positron lifetime and the enhancement of hydrogen solubility
Measurements of positron lifetime and hydrogen solubility were made in deformed polycrystalline Pd to investigate thermally-activated recovery. A strong correlation as a function of isochronal annealing temperature was observed between trapped-positron lifetime and the enhancement of hydrogen solubility due to solute binding at dislocations. This correlation is attributed to the simultaneous re...
متن کاملStudy the Properties of Cu-Zn Ferrite Substituted with Rare Earth Ions by Using Positron Annihilation Analysis
Positron annihilation lifetime spectroscopy (PALS) is a direct probe of size and concentration of nano-scale defects in materials, because it is very sensitive to electron density. The lifetime of positron ( ) and its intensity (I) can be used to characterize the defects concentration. In the present work, PALS has been applied to measure the variation of positron lifetime parameters for polycr...

The objective of the study was the structural analysis of the 70TeO2-5XO-10P2O5-10ZnO-5PbF2 (X = Mg, Bi2, Ti) tellurite glasses doped with ions of the rare-earth elements Er3+, based on the PALS (positron annihilation lifetime spectroscopy) method of measuring positron lifetimes. Values of positron lifetimes and the corresponding intensities may be connected with the sizes and number of structu...
